German Play Ship Museum, Mutzschen

Here, in a lovingly restored building, over 1000 toy ships can be marvelled at and admired. The museum aims to further explore and preserve the history of German toy ships and, above all, to make it known. The museum, which is of interest to young and old alike, is run by the "Freunde der Spielschiffe e.V." association, which was founded in August 2017. In addition to a true-to-the-original workshop, the history of wooden toy ship manufacturing from 1850 to the present is shown. Beautiful exhibits from the big manufacturers and also unique pieces from smaller companies are presented. Even the little ones will get their money's worth, with a variety of games and handicrafts on offer. The museum café awaits you at the end of the tour.

Such an extensive exhibition with ever-changing themes and focal points needs a flexible way of structuring the space. With the AOS Free Line walls, not only the flexible exhibition design could be implemented excellently. With their sound-absorbing structure, the room partitioning systems also contribute to a significant improvement of the room acoustics in the over 300-year-old building.

The historic building "Am Markt 14/16" in Mutzschen was built in 1775 by the master mason Christian Wartig as a cantorate. The adjacent church was built as early as 1250. The Kantorat was rebuilt and enlarged several times. Later it was used as a school and also as a dwelling.
